DIY Mid Century Coffee Table Ikea Hack

This post title is quite the mouthful but I wanted to get all the main points included. The table top is Ikea, the legs are mid century, I “did it myself”, and it qualifies as an Ikea hack.

Now that we’ve covered that…

When Nick first moved in, I knew we needed a coffee table upgrade from the little ottoman I made. I loved the legs on that ottoman and they were so easy to attach. Enter: Ikea, a little particleboard is all I needed.

This table was apart of the Ikea family sale when we got it, so it was a whopping $20. I already had the legs from my ottoman so what I’m telling you is, this coffee table cost us $20.

It’s pretty self explanatory but I can spell it out for you.

1. Buy Ikea Table

2. Buy mid-century legs and brackets

3. Stain legs to desired color

3. Drill brackets to table top

4. Screw legs into brackets

5. Store remainder of Ikea table in your storage closet for a project you haven’t thought of yet..

That about wraps it up! This table was a great temporary piece for us. We have a small living space that we use constantly, our coffee table is also our dining table (yeah we’re those people..). We needed something more sturdy and long lasting so we have a new coffee table now! It was also a do-it-yourselfer and I cant wait to share! Yep, thats a total of three coffee tables in one year, try not to judge too hard.

All for now,

Heyyyo! Sorry for the radio silence over here, my life has been quite the whirlwind. Guys, its been a year since I moved to Kansas City! It seems so crazy, where did 12 months go?? I couldn’t have done it without all the great people in my life who support me in everything I do and everything I want to do. Can I add that to every post? I don’t say it enough.

OK, back to the now.  I have successfully been out of town every weekend for the past month and will continue that trend for another two weekends. Lot’s of celebrating!! But, this is the weekend I’ve been waiting for. Ikea, Minneapolis, here we come. I’ve got my list, money, ma honey (haha), and an empty car that will be filled to the brim. I’m ready. Lately our apartment has been the only thing on my mind. Here are some of the latest things I’ve been crushing on. Some I own, some I wish I owned, some I will never own…a girl can dream…

P.s. HOW AWESOME IS FAB’S NEW FURNITURE LINE?? Caps needed indeed. You might be thinking, who the hell would ever own a teal sofa? I would. I would own a teal sofa. And that price?? You can’t beat that…and I can say that because I spent months on the internet looking for my current sofa.

All for now,

First things first…can we talk about this amazing website. Took me a matter of 5 minutes to whip up this post. Canva is a great design website that’s FREE and so incredibly easy to use.

Ok, moving on. I’ve been crushing hard on Ikea lately, like really hard. Nick and I are taking a trip to Minneapolis to go to the mega-store in May and I’ve been saving my pennies / looking on their website every day. Kansas City will be getting their very own Ikea in the Fall. Yay for me, boo for my bank account. I get in trouble at Hobby Lobby, we’ll be taking things to a new level with an Ikea at my fingertips. It’s a great excuse for people to come visit though so I’m all for it.

Also, the dresser shown has PANYL adhesive applied to jazz it up. It looks amazing. I just ordered 5 samples from PANYL to test ‘er out. I’ll let you know how it goes but I have a teensy feeling I’ll be hooked.
