Hey guys, long time no talk. I admit it’s been a minute since I’ve posted and there have been a lot of life updates since.
First and foremost, Nick and I got engaged while we were traveling in Portland! I could spend an entire post on that city because it’s simply amazing.
Since Portland, we’ve gone through a lot of variations on how to celebrate this awesome time in our lives. We knew what we didn’t want, but it was hard to figure out exactly what we did want.
After much deliberation, we’re getting married in San Sebastian, Spain. Now, usually after we say that, everyone asks, why Spain?? We don’t have an answer for that. We looked at a world map for a long time. There were lots of excel spreadsheets. It really came down to the villa. Our parents, brothers and sisters, plus a couple extra family members are joining us and we really wanted everyone to be in one house. This dramatically narrowed down our search. We also wanted to be close to a city. A lot of times, these villas are so far from downtown or city centre. San Sebastian is also f-ing beautiful so it worked out splendidly. So, June 07, 2016 in San Sebastian it is! We’re absolutely thrilled about it and the months are flying by!
From Spain, we plan on traveling onward to Italy and ending in the Netherlands. Through this entire process, we wanted to put all our time, money, and energy towards creating a trip we’ll remember forever. Although, we still had to actually get married so we thought, might as well do it over there! I can honestly say that we’ve put more energy into planning our trip than our ‘wedding’. We don’t know where we’re going to say our vows, we’re going to grab some market flowers the day of, and we have a reservation at a restaurant that we know nothing about (it’s got great reviews on trip advisor…). The great thing about just having the people closest to us there, is that we don’t feel like we need to impress anyone. We’re just wingin it, I’ll let you know how that pans out.
In addition to Spain, we’re having a very intimate party at CaVa, a champagne bar in Westport, Kansas City. We decided to do this so that we could celebrate with our close friends and family that won’t be in Spain with us. It’s been so fun putting it together. People should really have weddings/receptions at restaurants more often, thats my 2 cents.
Below are a few of our favorite pics from Portland. When I have more deets on the wedding I’ll update!
And I’ll leave you with a little arm candy…
This beauty still catches my eye everyday and reminds me how lucky we are to have each other. This trip started a new chapter for us, and we’re so excited to celebrate in a way that means the most to us, with the people that mean the most to us.
